Great to see so many riders ( both young and old) out for this event celebrating the upcoming World Champs. The first ever West Highland Wheelers biathlon proved extremely popular and potentially unearthed a new shooting star in Ailsa Pooleman who was the only person to hit all the targets. A huge thanks to Leon for hosting the event at Achaderry Estate and for providing so many great prizes!
Despite starting in freezing fog at Nevis Range base station we finally managed to climb high enough to get into the sunshine and witness a stunning cloud inversion. A great way to finish what has been a great year of Saturday afternoon rides – especially when Jacqui produced some delicious Mince Pies! Many thanks to everyone that has been coming to the sessions, they have been great fun! We are looking forward to seeing you on the trails during the winter and we are definitely planning to start formally organising the rides again in the Spring.
Yesterday saw the busiest day yet of our newly introduced Saturday afternoon social rides. 5 club coaches went out with 3 groups of varying abilities. Everyone seemed to have a great time and one group even managed to get their pictures taken with Blake Samson and Neil Donoghue, the well known presenters from Global Mountain Bike Network. These sessions are running from 1.30 to 3.30 and we are keen to welcome any new beginner and intermediate riders along. Please check the ” Events” page for further details.
Wednesday night rides are back! Starved of group rides and good craic, enough people for 2 groups turned out on our first night since before Christmas. All were raring to go, in high spirits and had a fabulous jaunt.
